Today it seems that you and your wife made a great decision in moving to Israel. You are living among a people on the rise, maybe more so than any people in the world. This is especially true in the last few days as Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities are being destroyed. Might those facilities be rebuilt in five years time? In ten years? In twenty years? Don’t let them. Keep bombing. Keep dismantling. Make it irreversible. The people of Israel deserve peace of mind.

That song is fun! I'm adding it to my Dance Party playlist created to get me through dark days. (The list includes a similar yet very different song by Tesla called Getting Better.) Also, my tough days never include bombs, so Tamid Ohev Oti will help correct my perspective.

Thanks for posting. Please keep writing - or at least check in on X. We worry about you! I worry! I loved the monologue episode, by the way.

"Put aside the theology of the song that not everyone finds palatable."

Not everyone finds it "palatable" because it is, in the most pure and distilled form conceivable, the antithesis of the message of the Neviim.

The experience of being an immigrant is a singularly unique mental and emotional challenge apart from the economic struggles of the characters you mention in the book. Thank you for sharing this. May God bless you.

A thought that just popped into my head viewing the hostile comments by Rexii, which have zero intellectual value and are solely an emotional provocation. You should look into getting a social media manager to delete the counterproductive content. This is for maintaining your sanity. Perhaps in these days of AI it is more economical than you might assume.

Until this week, I’ve always thought “Listening to the Sirens” was a cute reference to our culture and the story of Odysseus.
